I am looking for outside lights that are solar and would generate lots of light. Is it possible to fine?
I would like lights for the front door and back door and one light that can be the sensor for the driveway.

I had the inexpensive light sets you can buy at the home improvement stores and even the solar lights (they break easily and you can’t get parts). But they don’t look as good as some of the systems I’ve seen. I’m looking for quality landscape lighting that makes my house and landscape look good. Any suggestions?

Does anyone have any opinion (positive/negative) about the use of outdoor solar lighting in the Southern U.S.? I would place them in an area where they would receive direct sun most of the day – it is also quite warm here most of the year. Is there a particular brand that anyone has had decent luck with?
Thanks!!

I just bought a house and there are about 20-30 small lights, the little lamp type with hoods on top, lining the driveway and patio. Problem is, I can’t figure out how they work. There is no switch apparently, they all seem to be connected by a single wire. Funny thing is, late at night 2 of the lights switch on. It is possible that the rest of the bulbs are dead, but how are they being powered? No battery or solar panel can be found? Any idea how to find this out myself (please don’t suggest I bring a lighting person in, I am first trying to figure it out myself)? Thanks.

I’ve heard of lights that use capacitors but have only found them in paver type applications. I am looking for traditional "stake" lighting.

I have a small Solar powered pathway lantern that no longer works,When I looked inside I see there are two batteries in there. Is there a way to get new batteries for these things or should I just toss it? Such a shame to toss it because it is metal and still in good condition but useless unless I could get it to work again.

Electrical line is already available so what are pros and cons other than ease of installation for solar-powered? This is for a walkway from our driveway to front steps.
Also, how about low-voltage vs normal voltage?

Thinking of replacing the transformer with a 12 vdc 50 Ah battery charging via a regulator and 30 watt solar panel. At most, maybe four 20 watt lights.
Thanks for the answers! The purpose is to temporarily put a few 20 watt low voltage spotlights out in remote areas of the yard to highlight small areas with pools of light without weaving a web of extension cords thru the yard. Mainly for Halloween and other yard events.

I would like to place them under my carport which is covered by a lattice screen. Will they get enough indirect sunlight there to make them work properly?

I am wanting to outline my driveway with a Colorado Blue spruce then a flower bush then a solar spot light then another flower bush then another colorado blue spruce and keep repaeting that on both sides. So I wanted to know a pretty flowering bush that at most grows to 2 foot tall, I prefer 1′ -1 1/2 foot , that goes great with a colorado blue spruce.
