Do solar powered landscape lighting systems work well?
Light Up Your Yard With Solar Powered Outdoor Lights
Does cold temps hurt them?
I want to know what will provide excellent spotlighting for the landscape and will hold full charge providing great lighting throughout the night. Also what is easy to install. I want the most for my money
So i just moved into a home that was built in 2002. I have two lights on each side of the garage in order to light up the driveway. I have put in nice new energy efficient bulbs and sometimes they turn on at night and sometimes they do not. WTF? I have literally walked around the house and turned on every switch at the same time to no avail. The lights in the backyard have switches and I know how to use those, I just flick them on and off, but the exterior garage lights are smarter than me. There has to be a timer somewhere as I see no solar panels. Where might one find this timer besides the obvious places like switches and outlets?
The efficiency of solar power for homes as an alternative power source depends on lots of factors. The position of your house, the climate of the area and the surface you want to provide power to, represent important factors for the installation of the right number of solar cells. You can’t make the plan without taking such elements into consideration. Here are some tips you could find useful for your research because they clarify things for this big decision of making the home energy efficient.
Determine the amount of power you’re consuming on a monthly basis. Have an average estimate so that you’ll be able to determine the size of the solar system.
Find out the number of solar days and the average rainfall specific to your living area. It is with a five-hour maximum power that you can hope for the highest home efficiency of a solar system. That’s the best you can get from the system.
Hot water, central heating and the possibility to power small appliances: these are the main achievements of solar power for homes. Solar electricity seems to be too expensive at the moment for us to be able to power all the utilities on it alone. This is why households that have a solar system installed, also use gas in parallel.
Before you make solar panels for your home, find out about the amount of electricity generated by the cells and the technical features of the solar panels by inquiring at the manufacturer directly. Evaluate how much power you can generate within 5 hours per day, and compare these data with the consume you estimate for your family.
The initial investment to generate solar power for homes is pretty high, rising up to $16,000. An estimate calculation indicates that you will need around 41,000 square inches of solar panels to supply your entire home with electricity. You can lower the costs by using federal tax credit programs and tax rebates that let you save up to 30% of the system costs.
The installation, the inverters and the batteries also cost a good deal of money, besides the cost of the solar panels. For anyone who wants a small air conditioner in one of the rooms, the costs will be even much higher than what we have mentioned above.
So far the costs of solar power as an alternative power source for homes seem often out of reach due to the initial investment. Which is why so many Americans cannot afford to make this home improvement. However, solutions do exist as long as you are determined to use solar power even if not for the entire house.
I’ve been installing landscape lighting for almost 20 years and can’t uderstand why people see value in LED & Solar lights. It’s like the electric car – great in theory but proformance leaves alot to be desired. Fireflies in a jar, Fireflies in a jar.
