I am debating between a low-voltage malibu light system and solar-powered for my backyard. I heard the solar-system is easy to install, cheap but the lights are very weak. My backyard is already pre-wired to use the low voltage system but I am not sure how much it would add to my electric bill. What’s your opinion?

I would like to buy landscaping lights that put out some good lighting. I prefer the solar but I have seen them in action and they have very poor lighting. Does anyone know of a good quality landscaping lighting? Thank you for your answers.

can I use a solar panel that might be purchased for landscape lights and then somehow wire christmas lights to it instead?

I’d like to wire LED lighting to put under a lip at the top of my new retaining wall. A lot of the actual landscape light fixtures I’ve found are big/fancy/expensive. I’d like to wire something that will be solar powered and have the effect of strip lights–either by buying inexpensive waterproof LED strips and connecting them to solar power, or by going one step deeper and wiring individual LEDs to suit along the edge. I’ve found dealextreme.com for some parts, but does anyone know of a good resource for instructions on assembling this type of thing?

Excpet the sun is there any other way to charge the batteries of solar lanscape lights?
I bought some and it is cold and rainy they never charge.
I was thinking about a charger but I can’t just use a simple one to charge the Malibu batteries right?
Any suggestions?

I’ve had a Home Staging company ask if we would set up lighting in the fronts of homes for customers who are selling their homes. I was wondering if the realty community had any opinions on the value of quality landscape lighting. I’m not talking the store bought cheap fixtures – either solar or plastic light kits, but metal low voltage lights for the sidewalks, lighting for pillars and brick/stone face, along with any trees etc.
