What can I do to prevent my neighbors basketball from landing on and damaging my property?
They have a portable hoop with the back facing my property. When the ball is missed it lands on my property whereby the children constantly walk through my grass. My landscaping includes solar lights, pebbles and lava rocks, trellis’ and most recently flowers. Two lights have been broken and rocks repeatedly scattered. The father said on 3 occasions he realizes the problem and he will build something to keep it from occurring. He said this over a year ago. Th e wife said she realizes it looks terrible but I "just have to deal with it." The police said there is nothing they can do if it is not intentional. Community relations has only sent letters and not been very helpful. I think it is common courtesy not to offend your neighbors property, intentional or not. This is exactly why we have backyards and parks for playing basketball. I did not expect this to happen in the suburbs or anywhere that people are trying to keep up their home and property. It is frustrating for me to repeatedly spend my time and money because of someone else’s actions or lack of. They were even given the suggestion by police to turn the hoop the other way. There response was we don’t want it to mess up our lawn. But I guess it’s o.k. to run through your neighbors.

If it comes into your yard just yell across "If this thing comes over here again it will belong to me" then chuck it back over.
